As the fresh morning dew of Spring evaporates into the damp, humid air which we in Britain vainly refer to as Summer, I found myself looking up into the sky. Sat under a heavy-set oak tree, with my eyes towards the heavens, yet obscured by a singular leaf; crusted and curled into a brown Autumn cocoon, and all I could think was… damn. It’s been a while since my last blog post.
Tragedy strikes swiftly though, because thanks to the universe of Twitter and such,
once news has become worldwide – it’s already over within 48 hours and people start to complain that nobody will shut up about it. Now here I am, wading through months of one day long worthy topics which I very much cared about when they happened, but now am almost reminiscing my opinions about events that happened mere months, or sometimes even weeks ago! Anyway, let’s take a deep breath and get all caught up so I don’t feel out of date.
1.
Michael Jackson:
He wrote some really catchy, awesome songs. Made a pretty decent video game once too. That’s pretty much all I want to contribute towards that.
2.
Duke Nukem:
All related themes to him were awesome, and quite catchy. Made some pretty amazing video games back in the 1990’s too. I can only hope the franchise is given to a studio who deserves to preserve this king among gamers.

3.
PSP Go:
Oh boy! No phoning in on this one, ‘SRS business’ has officially occurred. I would actually like to take this opportunity to thank Sony for opening the flood gates, and making their company fair game for any sniping blogger who has the good sense to slate them thoroughly for this abomination.
They may brag that you’ll be able to download all your games straight to your PSP Go (because there’s nothing I like more than having to pay for a storage device to own a game I want), but anyone who has already dared to invest in UMD games should have had the presence of mind to not invest in a system which would become out-dated and worthless before you’ve even had a chance to complete the damn thing!
While I admire Sony’s utter pigheadedness to pretend they’re doing anything other than causing the consumer to walk funny for a week, my cash shall be locked firmly in my wallet, hotly anticipating the release of a game to go with these shiny Sony branded Archos portable video players.
4.
University:
In-between the time of the last post and this one, I have completed my third year of study at University… luckily I still have one year remaining! Long live the student discount available at Subway!
That doesn’t take away the fact that I remain nervous as all hell of the image of crawling out of University, clutching my degree certificate the way a homeless man does his last can of Tennents. I don’t fear the real world of work; paying tax, and having to rise at 7am on a daily basis (though none at this point give me the urge me to do a
Hiro celebration). I only worry that I might not have achieved what I went there to.
I had clear set goals from the very start and I don’t think I’ve accomplished any of them, and they were very basic ones, at least as far as University hopes tend go (get a First grade, meet the partner of my dreams, get a degree that promises me a £60,000 a year job as standard). I only had three of them as well: to begin developing discipline within myself, to strive to meet as many of my deadlines as I could, and stretch my brain to the limit and write as much as I could, all of the time… I’m sure there’s plenty of irony to go around right now.
